A Touch Screen phone with a cute name :LG Cookie

I've just received word that the affordable touch handset LG KP500 is getting a pet-name - the LG Cookie. Despite the perky name, the latest LG handset offers a modern feature set that seems pretty enough for the estimated price of 170 euro before taxes and subsidies.
The Cookie uses the latest reincarnation of the proprietary LG Flash-based UI, which now is even more interactive and user-friendly. The interface is still thumb-optimized, but a stylus tucked in the body also assists handwriting recognition.
The built-in accelerometer of the LG Cookie allows for even more fun - it adds a physical dimension to the gaming experience, there is auto screen rotation for images, video and documents and finally, there’s the landscape onscreen QWERTY keypad.

The other fun stuff to use your accelerometer for is aligning your home screen widgest - just shake the phone and you’re done.

The LG KP500 Cookie is only 11.9mm thick, which presumably makes it the thinnest phone around with a tucked in stylus. The LG Cookie sports a 3-inch TFT touchscreen display and a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera. It doesn’t have 3G support, but you have EDGE and quad-band GSM at your disposal.
The other new thing we just found out about the LG Cookie is that the video recording won’t be as exciting as that of some other LG cameraphones. Here you’ll have only QVGA video at 12fps.
Video playback is not stunning either - the LG Cookie won’t support DivX or XviD - instead you’d have to do with only MPEG4 video at 24fps (up to 240 x 400 pixel resolution).
Nevertheless, the LG KP500 is indeed going to have a really attractive price point as promised - the estimated price is only 170 euro before taxes and subsidies. We duly expect this baby in our office for a review spin.

Apple Iphone will now take care of your heart

Apple Iphone generally allows you to make calls, receive calls, hear a song and find way to your destination but that’s not enough for today’s technology oriented world.

Now Apple Iphone turns into a heart monitor and fitness tracking system. Apple Iphone can work as your personal trainer , you can also listen to your heart.

A Technology firm called iTMP Technology Inc has developed SM Heart Link, which will work as “wireless bridge” which in turn will work as a data collector(such as heart beat, chest strap, cycling sensors on bike) and sending these details to your i phone.

Now, what does an iPhone do with these data ?…

Iphone sends this information to the medical assessment websites. This work flow can be done in such a small fraction of time that you will not even notice it .

“your calorie expenditures are broken out between fat and carbs and they are based on our metabolic data not population- based tables.” , said Michael Williams, CEO and Founder of iTMP Inc

As far as it’s cost is concerned, it doesn’t look cheap. Most applications for Iphones are free or come at very low costs but this module will cost $155.

Take care of that heart of yours. :)

The Fastest graphics card on the Earth: nVidia’s GeForce GTX 296

nVidia for long has been the hottest brand as far as developing graphics cards goes. Always promising high performance, it has seldom disappointed the ardent gaming society. ATI Radeon on the other hand has been close but lagging for last few years. Some time back though, it launched its first “two-chips-on-one board” card HD 4870 X2 which helped it slip slightly ahead of its only competition in the market, nVidia. It still raised a few eyebrows and gave way to many speculations on how nvidia will react to this move from ATI. nVidia inevitably had to launch its own graphics card with two chips on one board and it was officially launched on 8th January at the beginning of this year. As speculated (expected would be a more suitable word here) it has beaten ATI in performance and speed pretty convincingly (yet again?).

GTX 296 is definitely the fastest graphics card on the planet as promoted by nvidia itself. This latest baby from nVidia uses two GTX 280 chips on the same card. It still isn’t practically equal to two GTX 280’s with full power as the clock speed for these chips has been lowered to the same as for GTX 260. nVidia’s method to implement two chips together is also pretty interesting. The approach is completely different from ATI. The nVidia GTX 280 has two complete graphics cards in mirror image - with the main Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) chips facing each other - which are then sandwiched together using a HeatSink Fan (HSF) filling, resulting in this delicious piece of artifact.

Two chips on one board would definitely provide escalated performance but heating will be a big issue here. nVidia GTX 296 being the fastest graphics card yet, is sure to burn a deep hole in your pocket as well. But then, quality gaming doesn’t come cheap.
